Josiah Smith Tavern

The Josiah Smith Tavern is a wonderful historic asset for the Town of Weston that currently is significantly underutilized.  The goal of the Town for this Project is to revitalize the Tavern and its site by leasing a large portion of the building to a farm-to-table restaurant vendor and allowing various history-oriented Town organizations use of the remainder, while preserving and maintaining its marvelous 18th Century character in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and Historic New England Quitclaim Deed requirements.
BWA Architecture and its team has evaluated the existing building, identified preservation criteria, reviewed the various applicable building regulations, and prepared schematic design-level drawings, specifications and scope of work statements for structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical work. The Town’s civil and landscape consultant has prepared designs for site work, including septic, parking, trails, arbors and wild flower gardens. Construction is scheduled to finish in 2021.
