The Brewery Complex is a National Historic Register mixed-use commercial center in the heart of Jamaica Plain. BWA Architecture dramatically reconfigured and renovated the entire complex into a thriving community anchor. BWA first performed a comprehensive needs assessment of the
semi-abandoned 19th-century structures in 2003, identifying more than $7M in needed improvements and repairs to make the buildings leasable. In 2004, BWA started design on the “shell and core” work identified in the assessment. The project was subject to federal and state historic preservation reviews and received more than $2M in historic preservation tax credit financing. BWA was further hired to design commercial fit-ups for six of its tenants. By 2010, the property was fully leased.
