Harvard Allston Educational Portal is a tutoring center with the goal of bringing together Allston residents and Harvard University’s faculty, and students. The programmatic concept was to design a space that foster’s interaction and promotes exploration and learning. BWA Architecture’s design philosophy was simple: to create a relaxed open layout that provides an easy, comfortable environment for people to come together and exchange ideas. The use of cheerful colors and curved glazed walls reinforces the concept. The design incorporated various complementary yet distinct programs such as exhibit areas, classrooms, a multipurpose area, reception, and “smart wall” monitors in a vibrant space.
