Curtis Hall is a beloved and historic civic building in Jamaica Plain that is now used as a community center. The mixed-use building includes a gymnasium, swimming pool, fitness center, childcare center, senior citizens’ center, classrooms, and other meeting rooms dedicated to community-based organizations and youth-centered activities. BWA Architecture re-invigorated this handsome 4-story brick structure inside out to meet 21st century building standards. The newly enlivened interiors, comprehensive building system upgrades, pool repairs, and site and building envelope improvements are some of the project’s highlights. Curtis Hall is listed on the State Historic Register, and all work complied with historic preservation standards.
